Mt. Evans, Colorado

I am a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin and Machine Learning Researcher at the cognitive computing start-up SparkCognition. I received my B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013, where my research focused on mobile development ecosystems and software engineering. I received my M.S. in Computer Science, also from the University of Texas at Austin, in 2017. During this time, my research focused on the development of Information Retrieval systems and leveraged work in Human-Computer Interaction, Crowdsourcing, and Machine Learning.

I am now broadly interested in artificial intelligence. My current research is centered on neuroevolution, which uses genetic algorithms to generate the topology and parameters associated with neural networks. More generally, I am interested in automated machine learning, natural language processing, and the intersection between artificial intelligence and public policy.

For fun, I enjoy hiking and camping. As a high school student, I wanted to be an author. Finally, a few years ago, I forced myself to start writing. I publish creative writing under various pseudonyms.

I am always interested in job opportunities, consulting work, discussion related to my interests, and collaboration opportunities.
